"Yeah, the D.A.'s good," said
Ginny. "Only let's make it stand for Dumbledore's Army because that's
the Ministry's worst fear, isn't it?"
Dumbledore's Army was founded by Harry Potter,
Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley in their fifth year due to the
incompetent teaching of Dolores Jane Umbridge and the interference of
the Ministry of Magic. They decided to take their Defense against the
Dark Arts training to their own hands and actually use spells instead of
reading about theories. They first met in the Hog's Head where they were
overheard by Mundungus. They started using the Room of Requirement for
the D.A. practices. They had to disassemble when Marietta Edgecombe
turned traitor and reported D.A. to Umbridge. Nevertheless they (Harry,
Hermione, Ron, Luna, Neville, and Ginny) went into battle in 1996 in the
Battle of The Department of Mysteries. They suffered a few injuries
(Ginny a broken leg, Ron seemed mental and was chocked by the brains,
Neville broke his father's wand and was hit by the Cruciatus Curse,
Hermione was severely injured by a death eater), but none were killed.
Training sessions were not recalled during the next year, but was called
forth to defend Hogwarts during the invasion in 1997, however only two
members answered the call.

of Mysteries, as well as being subjected to the Cruciatus Curse by
Bellatrix. Was one of the two who answered the call to defend Hogwarts.

thanks to the lucky potion, Felix Felicis. Missed the D.A.
Lovegood, Luna
Fought in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, the only non-Gryffindor
D.A. member to do so. Was one of the two who answered the call to defend
Hogwarts. Fought in the Invasion of Hogwarts, and did not suffer any
injuries thanks to the lucky potion, Felix Felicis. Missed the D.A; said it was "like having friends".
Macmillan, Ernie
Considered this to be the most important thing they were doing this year, not excepting O.W.L.s, but did not apprear to defend Hogwarts when called forth.

failed because he did not have "hate" in him. Did not fight in
the invasion of Hogwarts as he was away with Dumbledore to destroy a
Horcrux. However witnessed Snape kill Dumbledore, and tried to get Snape
but failed.
Smith, Zacharias
Initially reluctant but he came around after being threatened by Fred and George. In the next year turned against
Gryffindors.
Spinnet, Alicia
Was a chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch
team.
