Frequently Asked Questions
Here I try to answer questions that pop up often in my mailbox.
WHY are you spoiling [a book I haven't read]?
Although we will not post spoilers on our news (without warning), our information is up to date, therefore there will be spoilers on those pages. If you do not wish to be spoiled, please avoid those pages.
When will Book 7 be out and what it is called?
As J.K Rowling has not yet announced such information, it is impossible for us to know. However we will be sure to announce when this information does arrive.
Are you in the movie? OR Are you JK Rowling?
I'm not in the movies, I don't direct the movies, I'm not JK Rowling and I'm not related in way to any of them.
What is the best browser and resolution to view this site in?
This site was created and tested using Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6, and Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows XP Home with a 1280x1024 screen
resolution. However it has been tested and found to work on a wide variety of browsers. Internet Explorer 5.0+ (note that IE sometimes
reports a script error related to the Google ads), Mozilla 1.6+, Opera 7+,
AOL 9+, Netscape 7.2+, Konqueror 3.0+, Safari 1.2+, and Firefox 1.0+ should all work. Note that the site will still be accessible in older
browsers but formatting issues will arise. This is because most older browsers do not support full CSS (Cascading Style Sheets),
which this site is dependant upon. This site requires a screen resolution greater than 800x600 but it is reccomended that one uses a resolution higher than 1024x768. In lower screen resolutions horizontal scroll bars will appear. In short we suggest
you upgrade to the latest browsers (most if not all are free) and to change to the higest screen resolution allowed. We also
reccomend that you choose Mozilla Firefox over all other browsers due to higher security and functionality. To read why and to
download the latest Firefox please go here.
What was this site coded in?
This site is coded in HTML 4.01 Transitional, and using CSS to define styles. That's just the HTML part of it. The rest (including includes) were done using
PHP.
PHP? But why are your file extensions .shtml?
The site originally was coded using SSI (Server Side Includes) which requires a .shtml extension. SSI lacks many features that PHP
provides and we wanted to switch to using PHP. However Google and other search englines have archived our pages as .shtml and renaming
them would be devastation. Therefore we did some complex charms (above NEWT level) and drank certain potions to have PHP in .shtml files.
Do you have RSS or LiveJournal Feeds?
No currently we do not provide it. We are working towards having RSS feeds for our news and once we have it we will be sure to let
everyone know. If you want to help us with having a RSS feed, please contact us.
Where can I contact [actors or JKR]?
Use the Contact the Cast page to find contact information on the cast and crew.
Use the Contact J.K Rowling page to find contact information on J.K. Rowling.
Can we use your [graphics, code, design]?
Absolutely not! The entire layout was designed and coded by the webmaster, me, and a lot of hard work went into making it.
Copying any parts of it is not only unethical but is also illegal. If we spot a site in which it is very obvious it was
copied, we will use all our efforts to suspend the page. If you note someone who copied us please contact us. Other
images on this site are owned by the respective owners: either fan submissions, staff creations or by Warner Bros,
Scholastic or Bloomsbury.
Can you help me with [graphic, HTML, CGI, PHP]?
That depends. Look at our site help section to see if your question is already answered
and if not try asking us.
Can I affiliate with you?
Please go to the affiliation page to read about that.
Can I add you to a top site list or nominate you for an award?
Please drop me a line before you do that. I may or may not want to depending on the time.
You are an evil person for liking Harry Potter!
That is your opinion/belief. We obviously do not believe that Harry Potter is evil.
