The Order of the Phoenix is first seen by Harry Potter in the fifth
book Harry Potter and the Order of the
Phoenix. It is a group of wizards and witches from diverse
backgrounds who fight against Voldemort and his army of Death Eaters. It
was established by Dumbledore during Voldemort's first rise to power and
soon came back into power again precisely one month after Voldemort
returned in 1995. Their headquarters was located at Number 12
Grimmauld Place, London, which was the home of the Black Family. However
after Sirius' death, Harry Potter inherited it and the Order vacated it
for fear that the house might allow the other remaining Blacks
(Bellatrix and Narcissa - both Death Eaters) to enter it. Currently the
location of the Order is unknown. The following is a list of current and previous members

Black, Sirius
Grimmauld Place belonged to his family. Was killed in the Death Chamber by cousin Bellatrix during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries.
Diggle, Dedalus
Was part of the Advance Guard that helps Harry escape from Privet Drive.
Doge, Elphias
Was part of the Advance Guard that helps Harry escape from Privet Drive. Was also part of the original Order.
Dumbledore, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian
Founder and Secret Keeper of the Order of the Phoenix. Killed by Severus Snape during the invasion of Hogwarts in 1997.
Dumbledore, Aberforth
Brother of Dumbledore. Strange bloke. Barkeeper of Hog's Head
Figg, Arabella Doreen
Squib who lives with several cats in Wisteria Walk. Kept watch over Harry by taking him in when the Dursley's were away, and shadowed him after Voldemort returned in 1995.
Fletcher, Mundungus
Was a crook, but is now a part of the Order because he has access to the crook world.
Dumbledore trusts him because he owes him. Found stealing Black
heirlooms from Grimmauld Place. Sentenced to Azkaban for impersonating
an Inferus during a robbery.
Hagrid, Rubeus
Half-giant who was sent with Madame Maxime to look for Giants in the mountains.
Guards Hogwarts in addition to other Order duties.
Jones, Hestia
Was part of the Advance Guard that helps Harry escape from Privet Drive.
Lupin, Remus
Werewolf, and was part of the Advance Guard that helps Harry escape from Privet Drive.
Went underground with the Werewolves to try to persuade them to join the
Order. Was bitten by Fenrir Greyback, the most vicious Werewolf and a
Death Eater, as a punishment for his father.
McGonagall, Minerva
Animagus (cat). Is also the transfiguration teacher at
Hogwarts. Currently the Headmistress of Hogwarts since Dumbledore's
death.
Moody, Alastor "Mad-Eye"
A paranoid ex-Auror who was considered
to have been one of the best. Lost eye and many chunks of his body in apprehending Death Eaters. Always brought them in alive if he could manage it.
Podmore, Sturgis
Was part of the Advance Guard that helps Harry escape from Privet Drive. Arrested in the Ministry of Magic trying to force a
top-security door; charged with trespass and attempted robbery, refused
to speak in his own defense before the Wizengamot, and sentenced to 6
months in Azkaban.
Shacklebolt, Kingsley
A senior Auror who managed to feed the Ministry with false whereabouts regarding Sirius. Is also
protecting the Muggle Prime Minister by working as a secretary for him.
Snape, Severus
The Death Eater that overheard the propehcy about the Potters and told Voldemort about it. He than told Dumbledore he was sorry for it, and quit the Death
Eaters to join the Order and spied on the Death Eaters at great personal risk. During the Invasion of Hogwarts in 1997, betrayed the Order by killing
Albus Dumbledore and escaped to re-join the Death Eaters.
Tonks, Nymphadora
Young and a new Auror. Very clumsy, but exceptional in Concealment and Disguise, being a Metamorphmagus who changes her
appearance at will. Blames herself for Sirius' death because she did not
finish Bellatrix.
Vance, Emmeline
Was part of the Advance Guard that helps Harry escape from Privet Drive.
Killed by Death Eaters during the summer of 1996.
Weasley, Arthur
Injured by Voldemort's snake while guarding the propehcy. Was
promoted as the Head of the Office for the Detection and Confiscation of
Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects since Scrimageour took over.
Weasley, Bill
Transferred to Gringotts London to help the Order by talking to the
Goblins, trying to determine which side they're on. Fought in the
Invasion of Hogwarts and was bit by Fenrir Greyback. The
consequences of which are still unknown as it was not a full moon.
Weasley, Charlie
Working in Romania as well as helping the Order in some discreet way.
Weasley, Molly
Helped upkeep Grimmauld Place. Mother of the Weasley kids.

All killed by a Death Eater.
Dearborn, Caradoc
Vanished 6 months after the team photo was taken .His body was never found.
Fenwick, Benjy
Killed. Only bits of his body were found.
Longbottom, Frank and Alice
Tortured by the Lestranges and Barty Crouch jr. looking for information as to Voldemort's whereabouts. Currently in the permanent ward at St. Mungo's
McKinnon, Marlene
Killed by Death Eaters along with her whole family, two weeks after the team photo was taken.
Meadows, Dorcas
Killed by Voldemort personally.
Pettigrew, Peter
Betrayed the Potters when he became their Secret Keeper by telling Voldemort their location. Currently is in servitude of Voldemort.
Prewett, Gideon and Fabian
Brothers who died fighting a group of 5 Death Eaters.
Potter, Lily and James
Killed personally by Voldemort in Godric's Hollow on Halloween,
1981. Voldemort also tried to kill their son, Harry but Lily's sacrifice caused his spell to rebound and ruin Voldemort for 13 years.
